The mission of the Behavior Technician is to diligently execute treatment plan programs, as directed by a BCBA, for clients diagnosed with autism or related special needs so that clients achieve mastery of their behavior treatment goals.
Identification
- The Outreach Behavior Technician is a regular, non-exempt status position.
- Reports directly to the Program Manager.
- Hourly position (Part-Time and Full-Time).
Job purpose
To work with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health disorders in a 1:1 in-home or community-based setting, implementing ABA methods and procedures. Behavior Technicians receive individual and group supervision from Program Managers and BCBAs, attend team meetings and scheduled training, and are expected to obtain RBT certification within 90 days of employment.
Accomplishments and job duties
- Assist clients in reaching their maximum potential in their daily lives.
- Collect and analyze data accurately following SLA's procedures.
- Organize and maintain the instructional area, conduct reinforcer assessments, and deliver reinforcement following training.
- Maintain strict confidentiality, follow HIPAA guidelines, and maintain professionalism.
- Demonstrate accurate implementation of skills as taught in training and feedback from supervisors.
- Maintain each client's electronic data and session note records.
- Implement crisis management and specific behavior reduction procedures and behavior plans as needed.
- Attend performance reviews, work toward goals set by supervisory staff, and communicate professionally with coworkers, clients, and parents.
- Complete daily billing and client session notes, and attend all staff development days.
- Be able to work afternoons and/or early evening hours.
- Complete coursework and training to obtain RBT certification within 90 days of employment.
Skills and Educational Requirements
- At minimum, a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 40 hours of direct training qualifying for RBT certification with the BACB.
- Adult and Pediatric CPR/BLS required for one-on-one client contact.
- Multiple background checks required (at the employee's cost) prior to the first day of employment.
- Excellent communication, attendance, and professionalism.
